Best Foods for Australian Shepherds
Table of Contents

An Australian Shepard’s diet is so important to their health. If they don’t have a balanced diet, not only will they have a dull coat, but they can develop allergies, ear infections, itching skin, and other health issues. So you may be asking yourself, “What is the best foods for Australian Shepards?”
Growing up and in my younger days of being a dog owner of 1 dog I had no clue. We just fed the cheap food. Consequentially, we had dogs with a shorter life span, health issues arose, dull coats, and just ok health.
When I decided to go into breeding the Aussies that I love, I began doing my research and wow, my eyes were opened. Today, besides a good foundational dog food, my dogs get scrambled eggs, brown rice, cottage cheese, sometimes cooked venison, beef bones from the local locker plant, and squash from the garden. With Aussies, they do have to adjust to a new food so if you try something, just add 1 new thing at a time to be sure they are not sensitive to it, and because they can get a runny stool when they are adjusting to a change, even a good one.
We also use Nuvet Plus vitamins, which we have found to be a great vitamin full of the right nutrition for our dogs.
